Simon Jordan warned Everton on talkSPORT about appointing Rafa Benitez as their new manager.
The former Crystal Palace owner thinks Benitez is someone who ‘uses clubs as a stepping stone’ and questioned why Everton would want to secure his signature.
Benitez is an Anfield legend and it would cause quite a stir on Merseyside if he donned the colours of those at Goodison Park.
And Jordan had some harsh words about Benitez and where the former Newcastle manager is currently at in his career.
“I bet he is keen because it’s an opportunity for him,” said Jordan. “And Rafa Benitez is in the Rafa Benitez business.
“Benitez? My view on Benitez is that he uses clubs as a stepping stone. He did a decent job at Newcastle. I don’t think his career is at an ascendancy.
“He didn’t go to China to further his football knowledge. He went to get paid a big bag of money. It hasn’t worked – and he wants to come back.
“Is that the reason Everton need a Rafa Benitez? Or do Everton need somebody that’s going to get hold of it, clear out the deadwood and build something?”
Probably for once, both Everton and Liverpool fans will be in agreement and hoping that Benitez doesn’t rock up at Goodison Park.
But it seems as though he is expecting a contract offer from Everton, as he is one of the favourites to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
For those in the boardroom, they were put in a difficult situation because not many expected Real Madrid to come knocking for Ancelotti.
And they can look on the bright side, they aren’t in Tottenham’s situations, who are over two months without a manager, but that doesn’t mean they cannot dwell on their own situation because they need to get their ship moving.
